Hi dev,
let me share my thoughts on this. Honestly,
I wouldn’t suggest focusing too much energy on reporting these resellers. This type of business built on information gaps is really common in mainland China. Many users are held back by network restrictions and limited technical knowledge. Here is my advice:
If you want your reports to actually work:
1. China has software copyright registration. If you manage to obtain it, you can submit takedown requests to get all those stores removed. You will probably need a local agent based in China, and this will turn into formal legal work.
2. Without valid Chinese copyright registration, you cannot establish legal ownership of your software, so reports will almost always go nowhere. For example, GenMini’s 18‑month membership sold for around 5 RMB shows up on Xianyu. It originally comes from an Indian phone‑recharge promotional bundle, and resellers import these accounts into China. Even Google has no real way to stop similar domestic resale activities.
If your goal is just to mitigate piracy:
1. Besides Discord, consider posting on major Chinese communities such as SEHUA. JavPlayer is only a small niche tech forum, so direct outreach on local platforms will raise more awareness.
2. Don’t fixate too hard on Taobao and Xianyu listings. I estimate around 90 % of buyers there simply don’t know how to get the original software or how to support you. Many cannot even log into GitHub — don’t expect to educate every single one of them. Using Buy Me a Coffee or Unifans is out of the question for most. This is purely an information gap. If you close that gap, many users will gravitate back to your official release.
Hope what I said makes sense to you.
